This is a handy little program I discovered recently and I'm sure many of you already know it and use it but for those who don't. Autostitch is a free program that basically takes multiple digital photos of an area and blends them together to create a panoramic photos. Here's an example of a simple panoramic compiled in Autostitch from seven photos. The program can be downloaded here

Hey all,

You might have heard the term fill in flash mentioned in these posts. Basically it is just a bit of low level flash on a bright day to hel brighten up the foreground. When taking photos with a nice bright sky, you camera will Adjjust for the whole scene and more than likely end up leaving the person with the fish a little underexposed. If you can turn your flash on and set the power low, you can use the light from the flash to help expose the person and fish a lot. I believe a slow syncro setting on a pocket camera provides the same effect.

Here is a picture without the flash on.



I notices that Al was way underexposed so I turned the flash on turned the power down.



Here is the effect on a close up picture



You can see there is a big difference. Give it a try lads.

Here is a couple of photo expamles with the graduated filters you can get at www.formatt.co.uk

Get yourself a Cokin P filter holder off ebay and a set of 85mm ND Grads from the above site.

These filters can be very helpfull for landscape photos, especially if you are getting washed out skies (Grey) a lot. Basically these just put some shaded glass over the sky portion of the photo.

Here is a pic taken with a 0.3 ND Grad. You can see the clouds are nicely exposed.



Here is the same phot taken with a 0.9 ND Grad... You an see there is a lot more light fall off at the top of the frame.
