Hi Lads,

With decent weather promised this weekend I am planning to do a spot of camping with the girlfriend. We are thinking of heading out towards the Clifden area and I figure this will be the perfect opportunity to get in some fishing.

Just wondering if anybody has got any spots that they think may be suitable? I am looking to take advantage of the excellent fishing that I have been reading about in Clifden so any general marks/tactics and would be much appreciated! All marks will be kept in confidence if people don't want to publicly share them. I'm not looking to empty the sea and will catch and release everything bar the one or two that I might keep for the bbq.. Nothing like a bit of fresh fish!

Also, are there any decent tackle shops out that way where I could buy bait such as sand eel etc. or should I bring my own?

Thanks in advance lads.

Hi all,

I'm hoping to go out after hounds and having seen the post on North Dublin hounds the other day I had a few questions that I hoped to have answered:

1. Will I catch them above the low water mark when the tide is on it's way in... Basically do I need to find a spot that will allow a cast into deep water, even at low tide?

2. Is it better to fish sand rock or mixed ground?

3. Are there any alternatives to Crab when targetting hounds?

4. Has anyone caught these around Skerries???

Any other suggestions? and please dont say head south......
